Jackson State University’s B.A. in graphic design, in the College of Liberal Arts, ranks No. 3 among top graphic design school programs in Mississippi for 2020, according to a ranking from Animation Career Review.
JSU’s program was most noted for its student preparation and access to resources, which includes image generation, typography and multimedia platforms.
“It is an honor for the graphic design program to be recognized for its quality of education, training of students and its prestigious faculty members,” said Jimmy Mumford, interim chair of the Department of Art & Theatre. “The faculty worked hard to refine the program and the curriculum to ensure its continued success.”
Founded in 2011, Animation Career Review touts itself as the online resource for people aspiring for careers in graphic design, animation, digital art and other related industries. This is the sixth year of the annual graphic design ranking, and over 700 graphic design programs were considered.
The criteria used for the ranking is as follows:
- Academic reputation
- Admission selectivity
- Depth and breadth of the program
- Value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness
