The annual event is open to the public and features refreshments and family activities with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. It will also include holiday crafts, caroling, musical guests and a tree lighting ceremony.

“The holiday season is a time for family, and this is JSU’s way of welcoming the community into our family,” said JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers. “We want to create joyful memories.”

This year, the festivities will have new additions, said Shannon Easter,

events coordinator, JSU’s Department of Events.

“We have added a movie area where Christmas movies will be shown,” Easter said, and representatives from JSU’s International Programs Department will be on hand to talk about how Christmas is observed in other lands.

Children and adults can take pictures with Santa and listen to holiday stories told by Mrs. Claus, as well.

The event at the corner of John R. Lynch and Dalton Streets is free.
