Representatives from the aeronautics and defense industry company Lockheed Martin are scheduled to be on the Jackson State University campus all day Tuesday, meeting with faculty, administrators, staff and students.
“We are excited to have representatives of Lockheed Martin here on campus Tuesday. It has been a great partner with the university and we look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts that have resulted in challenging and rewarding research for the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET) and excellent training for students interested in science and engineering careers,” said CSET Dean Dr. Richard Alo.
The officials will meet with the dean and top CSET staff Tuesday morning, said Angela Getter, development officer, Division of Institutional Advancement, CSET.
Then, they will meet with department heads from engineering, computer science, math, chemistry and biochemistry.
This will be followed by a campus tour and meeting with students and a lunch with interns and new hires, followed by discussions with President Carolyn W. Meyers.
The company has been a frequent visitor to the campus. In March, Karmyn Norwood, a JSU alum and C-130 Production Operations director and Meridian Site general manager at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics visited the campus.
Lockheed Martin held a recruiting trip in November during the Louis Stokes Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation (LSMAMP) Job Fair.
Also at that time, the corporation invested in JSU’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) research by providing CSET $60,000 for 3-D printer equipment and robotics training for students.
