Dear JSU Family,
It is a pleasure to welcome our vibrant students back from spring break. I hope it was a time of incredible connection with family, friends and loved ones. More so, I hope it was a period of rejuvenation, and you are poised to finish the academic year JSU strong.
To the entire JSU community, it is my honor to serve as your acting president, and I look forward to leading my alma mater with the utmost integrity, accountability and transparency. I am committed to providing a supportive environment for our students, faculty and staff, ensuring a smooth transition in the process.
I recently had the opportunity to gather with JSU students and listen to their perspectives, concerns and suggestions to enhance their higher education experience. I intend to prioritize their needs and continue to keep the lines of communication going. Listening is key to understanding, and my door is open to the campus community.
One of my immediate priorities is fulfilling the goals of our JSU Elevate Strategic Plan through action focused on Student Success, Academic Excellence, Increased Research Excellence and Enhancing the JSU Brand. I am fully dedicated to upholding the highest standards of operation and will continue my assessment meetings with various university stakeholders with the goal of campus collaboration to move JSU forward.
Our faculty, staff, students and alumni are doing remarkable things, and we will continue amplifying their contributions to JSU’s legacy. We must foster a culture of inclusivity that propels JSU toward its full potential. We must further stimulate the intellectual life that is abundant throughout our campus.
Collectively, we will maintain Jackson State University’s stability and progress. I encourage all of you to share your innovative thoughts and ideas that can further enhance the execution of our strategic plan.
JSU is one of the great pillars of the City of Jackson, and I am confident that, by working as one and staying true to our values, we will remain JSU Strong.
