College of Public Service adjunct professor Charles Araujo received the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Mississippi chapter Social Worker of the Year Award.
The 2018 NASW Social Worker of the Year Award is presented to individuals who are actively involved in client advocacy, social policy, community involvement, various forms of social work practice, program creation or improvement, and encouraging social and economic justice in Mississippi.
“It’s a humbling experience to know that your peers value what you do, and it reinforces my desire to continue to advocate for social and economic justice,” Araujo said.
Araujo also says he wants this award to motivate his students to “believe in themselves when events become difficult and to continue following their dreams and making a difference in the lives of others”.
