Dr. David Akombo, associate professor of music education and faculty Fellow in the College of Liberal Arts, has recently been invited as a keynote speaker to the first Interdisciplinary and Virtual Conference on Arts in Education (CIVAE), which takes place, Nov. 13 – 14, 2019, in Madrid, Spain. His keynote address is titled “Using music content as pedagogy across the school curriculum.”
“It is an honor and privilege to be invited to share my contribution in the field, and also by happenstance, I represent two continents; The United States and Africa, and also JSU. It requires of me even a more humbling spirit,” said Dr. Akombo.
The conference will also feature additional keynotes Professor Suzan Lutke from the University of Utrecht in The Netherlands and Isabel Villagar, a renowned professional singer and educator from Spain.
CIVAE 2019 is an international conference whose mission is to provide a platform for collaboration between teachers, researchers, and artists from different artistic disciplines – music, dance, theater, poetry, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, cinema … – to highlight the value of the arts in education and promote their development from an interdisciplinary approach.
