Social work professor tapped for national council

Dr. Brian Anderson

(JACKSON, Miss.) – Dr. Brian Anderson, associate professor of social work at Jackson State University, was recently appointed as a member of the Council on Social Work Education Council on Leadership Development for a three-year term. The Council on Leadership Development plays a critical role in developing strategies to ensure an adequate number of leaders represent the ethnic and programmatic diversity of social work education. In addition, Anderson was recently certified as a site visitor after completion of the CSWE Office of Social Work Accreditation training. The CSWE is a nonprofit national association representing more than 2,500 individual members as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education.

Anderson, who has been teaching college for 15 years, is entering his second year as a JSU faculty member. In addition to teaching, he volunteers as an assistant basketball coach and mentor to inner city youth. Anderson is a former board member and current member of the National Association of Social Workers, a member of the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, the Council on Social Work Education, and Leadership Greater Jackson.
