Therriault leads New Yorker Lions to win in debut

Former Jackson State football standout Casey Therriault played his first game with the New Yorker Lions (Germany) of the German Football League on Saturday. After only two practices with the team and a walk through, Therriault won over Lions fans with his clutch play.

MMP_0060Therriault led the Lions to a 24-17 victory over the Dresden Monarchs. Coming into the game the Monarchs had a 5-0 record and New Yorker had a 4-0 record, but the Lions won the game of un-beatens. Therriault made his first start with the Lions en route to the win.

Therriault scored his first touchdown with the Lions at the 10:46 mark in the second quarter on a 28-yard run. He threw his first touchdown with New Yorker at the 2:42 mark in the second when he connected with C. Bollman for a five-yard score. For the game he rushed for 100-yards and a touchdown and passed for 208 yards and a touchdown. He completed 16 of 24 pass attempts and had an interception.
