Two new chairs have been appointed in Jackson State University’s College of Education and Human Development.

Dr. Ruby Wiggins is chair of the Department of Special Education and Dr. Tamika Bradley is chair of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Each had been serving as interim chair of her department.
Dr. Daniel Watkins, the college’s dean, said Wiggins and Bradley have worked diligently in their departments.

“They are valuable to the College of Education. They run their departments extremely well and have done a great job toward our NCATE accreditation,” Watkins said. “I want to thank the search committee and the faculty in the departments of Special Education and Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
Wiggins graduated from JSU and has worked at the university for 34 years.
“This is a position I feel I’m qualified to do. I’m passionate about working with students who work with those who have special needs,” Wiggins said.
Bradley has served in a teaching capacity at JSU since 2002. She was an assistant track coach for the men’s and women’s teams from 1999-2000.
“I’m excited to be able to continue to work with the university in an administrative capacity. We have some wonderful plans to move the department forward,” Bradley said.
Congratulations to both of you! I applaud your diligence and service to the College and University. Carry on, Ladies!

Dr. Lackey,
She is my mentor, guide, conscience and counselor, FIRST. I was sooooooooooo happy to see this. This is just awesome!
As a graduate of the specialist program in special education, I am very happy to see that Dr. Wiggins was selected as Chair of the Department of Special Education. She has worked tirelessly to build this department. Her heart is with each student that she touches and she shares a wealth of knowledge to build capacity in special educators. Thanks Dean Watkins for making the BEST choice for special education!
