Members of the Undergraduate Studies at Jackson State University recently attended the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Annual Convening on March 19-20 in Atlanta.
The Frontier Set is a diverse group of postsecondary institutions and systems identified by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and partners as leaders in transformational change that accelerate degree attainment.

Annually, these partners in education convene to share successes and challenges, as well as learn from each other new and innovative best practices in academic advisement, developmental education and digital learning to bring back to home institutions for implementation.
The two–day conference was organized to include keynote addresses, breakout sessions and more intimate roundtable discussions.
Janelle Jefferson, coordinator of Academic Advisement, received an award and was recognized as a “Power Player” for hosting the table talk on “Academic Advising and Technology.”
The JSU team received three additional awards.
Ina vote determined by their peers and fellow Frontier Set Institutions, the JSU team received recognition for “Being the Most Enthusiastic about Integrating New Learnings,” voted as the site to “Deliver the Most Impactful Solutions,” and placed first in “Making the Most Meaningful Connections.”
