[hr]As JSU President Thomas K. Hudson continues to encourage all faculty, staff and students to get COVID-19 vaccinations, he’s also asking the campus community to spread the word via social platforms about the importance of getting the lifesaving shots.
President Joe Biden wants as many Americans as possible to get vaccinated, so the challenge aims to push colleges and universities throughout the country to help end the pandemic.
As a result, Hudson is urging JSU’s administrators, schools, colleges, departments and students to participate in the White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge along with the U.S. Department of Education.
While a significant number of older generations have received the shot, younger Americans are lagging. The White House said a focus on this group would help protect families and communities by reducing the risk to others.
Thus, by sharing information to help end the pandemic, the JSU effort could help the U.S. reach its goal of inoculating as many Americans as possible this summer.
At the start of the pandemic, JSU helped to reduce the spread of the deadly coronavirus with campuswide safety measures and daily updates on its webpages and e-blasts. It also provided convenient online instruction.
Since March, JSU and the Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center have teamed up to vaccinate more than 1,000 people at its on-campus vaccination sites – primarily inside the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
As well, the School of Public Health’s “It’s Not Over Campaign”(commercials, billboards, PSAs, partnerships, et al.) has reached more than a million people through social media, town halls, e-blasts, marketing and public relations channels.
