As Jackson State University continues to mourn victims in the tragic shooting rampage in Orlando, Fla., some family members of the 49 people who perished are preparing to say their final goodbyes today.

More than 50 people were wounded in the massacre at a gay nightclub early Sunday morning.

Earlier this week, JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers ordered flags lowered to half-staff “out of respect for JSU’s historic focus on peace and tolerance, not violence.”

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama will be arriving in Orlando today as the nation continues to be paralyzed by the senseless assaults.

Obama’s spokesman says the “consoler in chief” is expected to speak publicly and declare that the country stands with the people of Florida and the LGBT community.

Along with condolences and an outpouring of grief worldwide, Meyers also expressed “solidarity with our country’s ongoing promises of freedom for all.”
