Woodson new JSU events director

In case you are wondering who is behind the scenes in making sure that events at Jackson State University run smoothly, that would be Carol J. Woodson.

Woodson

Woodson just started in the job as events director two weeks ago, but the Jackson native has taken her new duties in stride. She has more than 15 years experience in the event planning and management industry.

She has spent the last four years as event manager for the Jackson Zoo.

“I’m excited to be a part of the JSU family!” she said. “Jackson is my home and being able to work with such an important entity in our city in an honor.”

Woodson is tackling her new job full bore. “You will see the Events Department work to improve the event processes held by organizations and departments on campus as well as build and develop relationships with non-university organizations to bring their conferences, workshops, business meetings and more to the JSU campus,” she said.

Woodson is “plugged in” to Jackson events, calling herself “a passionate advocate for the City of Jackson.”

She’s a member of 2015 class of Greater Leadership Jackson and vice president of Metro Jackson Attractions Association.

She has studied at JSU and Hinds Community College and is a Certified Festival and Event Associate.
