JSU students present Capstone Projects

Students enrolled in CMD 510, Articulation and Phonological Disorders, of the Communicative Disorders Master’s program at Jackson State University presented their Capstone Projects on Dec. 2, 2013.

The Capstone Project is a partial fulfillment of course requirements and part of Dr. Nola Radford’s (faculty of record) course revision for student engagement and global inquiry consistent with QEP and as part of her Creative Faculty Award for 2013.  Dr. Preselfannie McDaniels, Dr. Debra Buchanan and Dr. Candis Pizzetta were guest judges for the event.

The winners were notified on  Dec.  11, 2013 of their status.  Crystal L. Hampton, a first

year graduate student, was awarded first place  and $100 for her paper “Victor, Which Language Theory Fits?”  Hampton also received an opportunity to work with Radford to have her work published in an appropriate journal.Hailey Henderson, also a first year graduate student, was awarded second place for her

paper “Diary Reporting for Speech Analysis Based on Itard’s Methods.”  Henderson also will work with Radford to have her work published in an appropriate journal.

There were a total of 12 Communicative Disorders students who formally presented their project to students, faculty, and staff.  Other students in the class presented their projects to their peers.

The Communicative Disorders Master’s Program is housed in the College of Public Service, School of Health Sciences.
