A national pandemic did not stop the Jackson State University Department of University Communications team from producing quality work last year. Yesterday, the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) announced JSU as the winner of 12 awards, five of which were first-place.
JSU competed against other state universities such as the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Alcorn State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. The virtual presentation occurred during CPRAM’s annual conference.
Interim Executive Director Spencer McClenty said, “We are beyond grateful for this esteemed recognition. These awards represent the immense talent and diligent hard work of our entire team. They understand and meet the daily challenge of each project from conception to completion.”
CPRAM is a consortium of public relations professionals employed at Mississippi’s public and private colleges and universities, as well as affiliated education agencies.
Mississippi’s largest HBCU was recognized in several categories for creative work. First place honors include (1) admissions and recruitment; (2) special publications; (3) advertisements (print media only); (4) single piece of artwork-sports; and (5) multi-media presentation. JSU also won a grand award in the Senior Division for print media. A full list of JSU’s other six awards can be found here.
CPRAM offers professional development to its members. These include mentoring and networking opportunities related to public relations, communications and marketing.
