Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy is holding its monthly meeting at the College of Business, Department of Accounting, in Room 462, at 10 a.m. Friday.
This board is the official state oversight agency that licenses and regulates certified public accountants and their firms, according to Dr. Annette K. Pridgen, assistant professor of accounting.

Attending will be Walter Davenport of Raleigh, N.C., the new chair of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
A retired audit partner with Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, Davenport was director of the firm’s Not-for-Profit Industry Group. He is the second African-American elected to lead NASBA, which is charged in preserving the public trust through the regulation of the accounting profession across the 55 U.S. jurisdictions.
He will be the guest speaker for the ceremony recognizing new CPAs on Saturday.
The official meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and is open to the public, Pridgen said
