According to Dr. Kimberly Hilliard, executive director, Office of Community Engagement, the Conscious College Road Tour is an initiative of Turning Green (TG), a student-led, nonprofit seeking to mobilize college students around conscious living and sustainable practices.

The tour’s visit is sponsored by the JSU Sustainable Campus Committee, Hilliard said.

The tour began at California State University Chico in California on March 24 and will visit 15 university campuses by early May.

The visit will include:

— 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. A Conscious Information Station that will focus on six key lifestyle categories (food, body, style, zero waste, clean, space and hemp). The interactive set-up features info boards, free product sampling, hands-on demos, activities, and in-depth conversations. This will be held on the pedestrian walkway.

— 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. A Town Hall Meeting and free dinner for students, faculty, and school leaders to focus attention on a sustainability project to be developed on campus led by students. This will be held on the pedestrian walkway (rain location: first floor, JSU Student Center). Attendees must register beforehand for the event.

Members of the traveling team include Judi Shils, founder and executive director, and Erin Schrode, co-founder and global spokesperson, and TG student leaders.
