Based on the smash Broadway musical and subsequent movie, Dreamgirls in Tiger World is the theme for the 2016 Miss JSU Pageant and perfectly captures the aspirations of young women who are seeking to become superstars. The competition to become Miss JSU 2016-2017 will start at 7 p.m. on March 31 in the Rose E. McCoy Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 at the door and are also available in advance from the contestants starting March 21.
Of the contestants, only the top three will advance and have the opportunity to campaign and be elected by the student body. The components of the pageant are oratorical, talent and on-stage presence (evening gown and Q&A segment). A new feature this year will be a social media-based “behind the scenes” look at the competition from the contestants’ point of view.
