JSU has emerged as a national leader in this transformative learning method. The university is in the second year of its iPad initiative, providing the device to every incoming freshman. Faculty are authoring digital textbooks for their classes and JSU continues to receive recognition for its efforts. Apple, Inc. designated JSU an Apple Distinguished School, joining a select group of institutions across the country.

“This is an opportunity to share with the rest of the world how the use of technology in the classroom prepares our students for the 21st century workforce,” said Dr. Robert Blaine, special assistant to the provost for cyberlearning.

The summit will be held at the JSU student center, beginning at 8 a.m. on Feb. 6. It will feature a number of presentations. During the summit, JSU will hold its grand-opening for Innovate, a new center that functions as a space for IT and distance learning, giving faculty and staff a place to design digital curriculum and classroom assignments. Innovate is housed on the first floor of the H.T. Sampson Library. The grand-opening is scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 6.
