Jackson State University students and staff can obtain flu shots at the JSU Health Services Center for a small fee.
Flu shots are available 11 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the fee is $25, the clinic reports.
Everyone six months of age and older should get an influenza vaccine every season, especially people over 50, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Flu season” in the United States can begin as early as October and last as late as May. As Mississippi State Epidemiologist Dr. Thomas E. Dobbs III, MD, told Cool and Current WJSU on a recent broadcast, different types of vaccinations operate in different ways. For example, in today’s flu shots, bits of protein are used to alert the human body to the antibodies needed to fight a virus.
