The Jackson State University Center for University Scholars will host the Seventh Annual Holden Lecture from 10-11:30 a.m. Nov. 7 featuring Attorney James L. Hudson as the lecturer.
Hudson is the former U.S. Executive Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a post to which he was appointed by President Barack Obama. Prior to that position, the Washington, D.C., attorney worked as a venture capitalist and policy advisor to national and local policymakers.
Hudson will present his lecture, “The Global Financial Crisis: Its Impact on the U.S. and Europe.” The event will be held in the Student Center Theater.

Named in honor of Matthew Holden, Jr., a distinguished political scientist, the annual Holden Lecture features a prominent public intellectual . The lecture was inaugurated in 2007 to celebrate the contributions of Holden to public discourse and the gift of his personal library to Jackson State University. Professors Ira Katznelson, Theda Skocpol, Glenn Loury, Dianne Pinderhughes, Henry Brady and Ronald Davenport, Sr. delivered the first six lectures.
