The Foundation for Education and Economic Development (FEED) Inc. has presented a check for $7,000 for scholarships at Jackson State University.
The check was presented to Dr. Mary M. White, interim vice president of JSU’s Division of Institutional Advancement, at the annual Blackmon, Ellis Fredrick and Young Banquet on Jan. 29.
“It is our mission to improve the quality of life for all Mississippians by increasing opportunities for education, economic and social development,” said state Sen. Willie Simmons, chairman of the FEED board of directors.
The FEED board, he said, “recognizes that our youths are our future; therefore, we focus primarily on delivering services to our youths and providing scholarships for many of our college students.”
In existence for 29 years, the Jackson, Miss., based foundation’s goals are to serve as a catalyst for change and/or reform in education and to improve and create economic and community development opportunities.
