Beatrice Byrd, deputy city clerk, said the location change is part of a 2013 council initiative to take meetings to the area colleges and universities.

“The purpose of bringing the council meetings to the colleges and universities is to strengthen relationships with leaders as well  as to provide students an opportunity to see city government in action,” Byrd said.

The meeting Tuesday will be held at 10 a.m. in Ballrooms A and B of the Student Center. The council members and Mayor Harvey Johnson, Jr., will be present.

Council meetings are open to the public.
