[Jackson, MS] – Jackson State University (JSU) is set to host its annual High School Day at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, inviting students from across the country to experience firsthand the rich culture, academic offerings, and engaging community that make JSU an exceptional choice for higher education. This year’s event will include popular entertainer and comedian DC Young Fly, and a mix of information sessions, campus tours, performances, and interactive experiences to introduce prospective students to life at Jackson State.
“We are thrilled to welcome students from across the nation to Jackson State’s High School Day. This event offers a unique opportunity to showcase the rich academic and cultural landscape of JSU and the shared legacy of HBCUs in higher education. With visitors coming from Virginia, Chicago, St. Louis, Baltimore, Nashville, Memphis, California, Texas, and across Mississippi, we’re also excited to highlight the distinct offerings of the city of Jackson and the great state of Mississippi,” said Kylon Alford-Windfield, vice president of Enrollment Management.
High School Day attendees will have the chance to meet faculty, staff, and current students from various departments, explore the university’s innovative academic programs, and experience the unique and lively campus culture that makes JSU a home away from home. A series of engaging workshops and panels will provide insight into the university’s academic excellence, student support services, and scholarship opportunities. Meanwhile, guided tours will allow prospective students to witness the campus’s energy and commitment to student success.
“The day will be packed with valuable information, excitement, and entertainment, setting a standard for how institutions can engage prospective students. Through this event, we are positioning Jackson State University to grow enrollment and lead in higher education recruitment,” Alford-Windfield said.
Walk-in registration begins at 7 a.m., followed by campus tours. As part of the festivities, the day will also feature a lineup of performances and appearances culminating with the students watching the JSU Tigers take on Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
