The occasion is the annual Student Juried Competition, according to JSU gallery director LaNeysa Harris.

An opening reception will be held at 4p.m. Tuesday at gallery, Harris said.

The juried exhibit features about 100 works including oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, mixed media and photography, Harris said.

Stephan Cook, a professor of Art at Mississippi College, judged the exhibit.

Awards will be announced for each category at the reception.

“The student work this year represents a variety of media. Some of these pieces are truly phenomenal,” Harris said.

The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Harris said. It is free and open to the public.
