Jackson State University is ranked as a top 20 Historically Black College and University, according to U.S. News and World Report.
“These rankings serve as a frame of reference to what we offer not only as an HBCU but as an institution of higher learning. At Jackson State University, we provide students with an all-encompassing quality education that spans beyond academics,” said Thomas K. Hudson, president of JSU. “Our students receive real-world experiences in a holistic and nurturing environment that ensure their successful matriculation at JSU and in life. Being named a top 20 HBCU is a reflection of this.”
Although the methodology is the product of years of research, U.S. News and World Report continuously refines its approach based on user feedback, discussions with schools and higher education experts, literature reviews, trends in data, availability of new data, and engaging with deans and institutional researchers at higher education conferences.
Jackson State has an enrollment of approximately 7,000 students and is committed to its mission of producing societal leaders — locally and abroad.
With an alumni base of more than 50,000 members, the urban institution is dedicated to creating a space for students to not only feel included but also reach their full academic potential.
