JSU President Marcus Thompson and VP/Athletics Director Ashley Robinson to Receive 2024 Excellence in Leadership Awards

Jackson State University President Marcus L. Thompson and Vice President and Athletics Director Ashley Robinson become recipients of the Diamond Award for Excellence in Leadership, recognizing their outstanding contributions in the entertainment, corporate, and creative industries.

JACKSON, Miss. – Jackson State University President Marcus L. Thompson and Vice President and Athletics Director Ashley Robinson are two of the latest recipients of the Diamond Award Excellence in Leadership from the Not Alone Foundation, Inc. The ceremony for the Eighth Annual Diamond Awards will be held at the historic Morehouse College Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., International Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Atlanta, Ga.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected by the Not Alone Foundation for this distinct honor, and to be recognized alongside many of my colleagues in higher education whose work I admire,” said President Thompson. “I’d like to dedicate this recognition to the talented students of Jackson State University. Their success is my true reward, and I am energized to continue to work to ensure they all reach their full potential as scholars and future global leaders.”

The Academy of the Diamond Awards will celebrate, honor, and acknowledge the contributions of individuals from various respective professional disciplines; while saluting equality, inclusion, diversity, and Human Rights. The Diamond Awards is a program designed to honor faces and images of excellence in the entertainment, corporate and creative industries for their professional accomplishments and contributions to our society on a local, state, or international level.

“I am honored to receive such an amazing award from the Not Alone Foundation, and to receive this honor alongside our president, Dr. Thompson, makes it even more special,” said Robinson. “When you add the fact that they are selective in who receives this award and to be named alongside some of the best athletic administrations, not only in the SWAC, but in the country means a lot.  I cannot thank The Not Alone Foundation enough for all that they do.”

The Not Alone Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the awareness and prevention of kidney disease and enhancing the quality of life of sufferers by providing educational and medical resources and financial assistance for chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients and their families. Using the platforms of entertainment, wellness, arts and design as mediums to help forward our mission, NAF educates, inspires and uplifts, working determinedly to confront and conquer this global epidemic.  In addition to the integration of our four core programs, NAF supports interconnected health initiatives such diabetes and high blood pressure awareness, as well as cancer prevention and integrative treatment.
