(JACKSON, Miss.) – Jackson State University (JSU) announces its 2025 Presidential Bus Tour, set to begin Tuesday, February 11. The tour kicks off with stops at Forest Hill High School, Ridgeland High School and Terry High School. Led by the Division of Enrollment Management, the presidential bus tour is an energetic recruitment initiative designed to offer prospective students a glimpse into the rich history, culture and endless opportunities at JSU.
“The Presidential Bus Tour is a special part of our recruitment efforts because it allows us to bring the JSU experience directly to future tigers at their schools,” said JSU President Marcus L. Thompson, Ph.D. “Last year’s tour was an incredible experience, and I look forward to meeting students who are ready to take the next step in their journey. At Jackson State, we are committed to more than academic excellence. We want every student to know they are valued, supported and part of a community that will push them to achieve, inspire them to lead and prepare them to uphold THEE Standard in all they do.”

The initiative seeks to inspire students to explore their academic and civic potential by introducing them to what makes JSU “THEE Standard.” Junior and senior high school students will learn about JSU’s diverse academic programs, extracurricular activities and scholarship opportunities available as future JSU Tigers.
Prospective students will hear from prominent JSU student organizations, including the Student Government Association, Royal Court and Blue Ambassadors. The tour will also feature performances from the University Concert Chorale, JSU Cheerleaders and the world-renowned Sonic Boom of the South, giving students an immersive experience of JSU’s culture.
“We are excited to bring the energy of Jackson State University to local high schools and engage with these talented scholars in person,” said Kylon Alford-Windfield, vice president of enrollment management. “JSU is not just growing, we are innovating. From the 3+3 Accelerated Law Program to becoming the first HBCU to implement the Loan Repayment Assistance Program, we are expanding pathways to success. The Presidential Bus Tour reflects that commitment, ensuring students leave inspired and confident that JSU is the right place to become who they are meant to be.”

At each stop, graduating seniors who have been admitted to the university will be recognized and celebrated. Students who apply on-site will have their application fees waived.
On March 27, the highly anticipated bus tour will travel to Memphis, with more details to be announced at a later date.
