Student journalists from across central Mississippi are invited to the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association’s High School Journalism Fall Workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The workshop, sponsored by Jackson State University’s School of Journalism and MSPA, will begin at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi e-Center @ JSU, 1230 Raymond Road, Jackson, MS. High school students in the Jackson metro area and surrounding counties will have the opportunity to attend sessions geared to make their newspapers, yearbooks, broadcasts or literary magazines more exciting than ever.
The MSPA workshop is the result of a partnership between the School of Journalism and Media Studies at JSU and the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi.
General information about the workshop:
Registration is $20 per student (advisers attend free). The cost includes all sessions, as well as light breakfast and lunch. Attending schools will check in from 8-8:30 a.m. The opening ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the e-Center Convention Hall. Registration deadline is Sept. 23.
Students will select hands-on workshops to attend from 9-11 a.m., followed by lunch, and then will choose two more workshops to attend from noon – 2 p.m. On-site facilities include a television station, radio station, campus newspaper, digital editing, design and journalism labs.
