JSU students offered scholarships through ROTC

Students enrolling in Jackson State University for the spring semester can obtain scholarships through the ROTC Tiger Battalion to help defray costs, according to Rodney Hall, recruiting operations officer of the JSU Department of Military Science.

Students may obtain 2-,3- and 4-year scholarships that include full tuition, room and board, as well as a $1,200 book allowance.

Living expenses include $350 for the second year, $450 for the third year and $500 for the fourth year.

Options for a service commitment include full-time active duty or part-time National Guard or U.S. Army Reserve.

ROTC, which stands for Reserve Officers Training Corps, is a program of military instruction located on 270 college and university campuses nationwide.

The JSU Army ROTC Tiger Battalion serves the Greater Jackson area to train cadet-students to become future Army officers as well as leaders in the business world. It is the host program for Belhaven University, Hinds Community College, Millsaps College, Tougaloo College, Mississippi College and the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Nursing.
