UPDATED Jan. 10: Jackson State University will have abbreviated operating hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Jan. 11-12, as the City of Jackson continues working to restore water pressure over the entire metropolitan area.

Due to the City of Jackson’s continuing water woes, Jackson State University will remain closed Wednesday, Jan. 10. Normal operations are expected to resume Thursday, Jan. 11. For further information, continue to monitor JSU’s social media and website, www.jsums.edu.
The following was posted Jan. 5:
Jackson State University will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 8-9, due to continuing water-pressure issues after inclement weather. The campus is scheduled to resume normal operations Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Move-in for students will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Classes will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
On Jan. 8-9, only essential staff will report to campus, including Public Safety, Facilities, Housing, Food Services and others deemed necessary to process the next payroll.
The City of Jackson recently declared a state of emergency after several water main breaks from an Arctic cold front.
JSU’s closure will help alleviate the stress on the water system that affects toilets, showers, dining services and infrastructure in general.
Those currently on campus are urged to observe boil-water advisories and conserve water.
