Ayanna Evans, planning and implementation coordinator for the Division of Campus Operations (DCO) at Jackson State University, has been selected to serve on the steering committee for the ED-F Project, a collaborative initiative between the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), ACPA-College Student Educators International (ACPA), and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS).
“It is beyond an honor to not only be selected as one of twelve members from across the nation to serve in this meaningful initiative, but to also represent JSU and HBCU’s, creating systemic change in higher education and promoting a more equitable and justice-focused industry,” said Evans. “I am also grateful to SCUP for the endless resources, support, and collaborative opportunities offered through their organization and to represent them in this endeavor.”

Evans will begin her two-year appointment with a virtual introductory meeting on Feb. 28, 2024, followed by an in-person steering committee meeting to be held in Washington, DC, on April 18, 2024. The emphasis behind the collaboration is to provide a systematic antidote to silos, achieve genuine inclusion, and reimagine higher education functions to meet the needs and aspirations of future generations.
Evans’s appointment contributes to JSU’s growth, reputation, and impact by providing opportunities for networking, information access, policy influence, and professional development.
“I am constantly impressed with Mrs. Evans performance. Her great work fuels our campus operations production and greatly encourages others around her. We are so proud of her accomplishment,” said Vance Siggers, Ph.D., executive director of Campus Operations.
Passionate about strategic planning, Evans contributed to the development of JSU’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, and initiated and facilitated the inaugural and second annual DCO Strategic Planning Retreat, resulting in the production and continual assessment of the DCO Five-Year Operational Plan.
Evans is currently participating in SCUP’s 2023-2024 Emerging Leaders Cohort Program, which features tailored learning experiences with virtual and in-person learning, networking, and advisory opportunities.
“JSU is truly a breeding ground for success. This is a collective achievement and none of this would have been possible without the mentoring, guidance, and support I have received from my JSU family. I am sincerely thankful,” Evans said.
