The lobby at One University Place Apartments will offer a new, fresh, hospitable atmosphere — thanks to a local business.

Jay Samander, owner of Mega Mattress and Furniture Outlet, donated the sofa, coffee table, accent chair and wall art, to grace the lobby, said Constance Lawson, development officer, JSU Division of Institutional Advancement.
JSU encourages entrepreneurship and relationships with businesses on campus, Lawson said, and Mega Mattress, a neighborhood business on Terry Road, stepped forward.
“We appreciate this donation and hope that we have a lasting and significant relationship with Mega Mattress,” she said.
Samander will be on hand in the lobby at 10:30 a.m. Friday, along with Division of Institutional Advancement Assistant Vice President Patricia B. Mitchell, to view the new look.
One University Place has been called “the next major step in the West Jackson renaissance” for its luxury apartments. The $18 million building includes 78 luxury apartments above 22,000 square feet of prime retail space on the corner of Dalton and John R. Lynch streets.
“We’re hoping that this partnership will open the door for future opportunities,” said Lawson.
