Anissa C. Butler, Miss Jackson State University, is seeking the national title of 2015 Ebony Campus Queen and wants your vote.

“I want be in the EBONY magazine HBCU Queens Edition because I want to bring a positive and bright image of Jackson State to the public and the entire country and it can be done through the EBONY magazine,” she says. “It’s not just for me, I’m also trying to give Jackson State a good name and representation.”
Anyone can vote. Voting ends May 22.
The competition is held by EBONY magazine. Contestants from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) from around the country are featured. The Top 10 vote getters will grace the pages of the September 2015 issue of EBONY magazine, according to the website.
A Jackson native and a Prancing J-Sette for the Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band, Butler is a graduating senior in Chemistry.
Butler reveals information about herself on the Campus Queens website, including her extracurricular activities as an Honors College senior, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., member of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc., MARC Scholar and a campus tutor.
For leisure activities, she says: “I love to read and study my Bible. I also love to explore things like fashion, exercise, healthy eating, and wedding decor (just to name a few) on Pinterest.
Her career goals include “For now I want to explore my passion for performing through dance. When I am unable to continue performing, I will resume my journey to the medical field.”
