President Dr. Carolyn W. Meyers congratulated the students who must achieve high academic success in order to be “pinned.”

Honors qualifications include a minimum 21 ACT score, a 3.0 GPA that must be maintained after the first semester or the incoming freshman must be valedictorian/salutatorian of his or her high school class.

Among those pinned, Kenya Johnson, a freshman in biology, said “It’s a start to a new beginning. I feel accomplished already.”

“It’s like a big reward for all the hard work,” said George Solomon, a freshman in civil engineering.

“It really makes me glad I’m still here,” said Bryan Miller, a freshman in electrical engineering,” adding, “Some people didn’t make it so far.”
