Jackson State University President Carolyn W. Meyers has appointed the Banner Redesign Task Force to design a methodology and roadmap for enhancing JSU’s operational efficiency and data accuracy through the strategic, campus-wide deployment of the Banner Higher Education Solutions software system.
“Included in the mission of Jackson State University is the education of ‘technologically savvy’ students,” Meyers said. “As a community of learning, it is imperative that we model learning and the effective use of technology for our students and for each other.”
The task force is chaired by Dr. Michael Omoregie, Associate Vice President for Information Technology. Task force members include Janieth Adams (Planning and Assessment), Ruby Jayne Carlson (President’s Office), Stephanie Chatman (Enrollment Management), Dr. Bettye Graves (Process Management), Dr. Kimberly Hilliard (Community Affairs), Dr. Rosella Houston (Institutional Research), Jacqueline Humphrey (Administrative Services), Alfred Jackson (Registrar), Zelma Leflore (Academic Information Technology), Dr. James Maddirala (Academic Affairs), Patricia Mitchell (Advancement), Betty Moncure (Financial Aid), Mohammad Obiedat (Information Systems and Integration), Rita Presley (Research and Sponsored Programs), Michael Robinson (Computing and Communications), Artis Smith (Information Systems), Dr. Ingrad Smith (Academic Affairs), Linda Wilson (Human Resources), Sherry Wilson (Financial Services) and Dr. Jeffrey Zubkowski (Graduate Studies).
Task force members will assess the current usage of Banner and identify potential uses of the software system based on the institutional needs of their units. Together the task force will prioritize the deployment of needed Banner modules based on institutional impact and the associated training required. The task force will present its written recommendations to the Office of the President at the end of the spring 2012 semester. After the Banner deployment plan is implemented, the task force will continue to assess the plan and provide the university with regular assessment reports.
