Jackson State University’s Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) Team is recruiting undergraduate students to compete for a $50,000-$75,000 grant from the Honda Corporation.
HCASC is the premier African-American Intercollegiate Academic Competition in which the Top 48 HBCUs compete for the title of Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Champion.
JSU, a former HCASC champion with numerous regional titles, has competed the past 27 years and will host a campuswide interest meeting from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Senate Chambers of the JSU Student Center.
JSU seeks undergraduate student competitors with knowledge and interest in all fields of study: art, current events, fashion, film, history, law, literature, mathematics, music, mythology, philosophy, political science, pop culture, sciences, technology, theater, theology, and all other realms of study.
As a member of the JSU HCASC, benefits include: possible scholarships, book stipends, an academic study enhancement program, community service opportunities, television exposure, travel, a free trip to Disneyland, meals, T-shirts, cultural development events, and community networking opportunities. The best teams will not only compete in the nationally televised Black College Quiz on Aspire and Bounce TV but, also, the contest will allow the winning HBCU to compete for the first time in more than a decade in the National Academic Quiz Tournament against academic institutions such as Harvard, Clemson and Stanford.
