A Women’s Health Conference focusing on HIV prevention and self-help for women will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 18 at the JSU Student Center, Ballroom A.

Titled “SOS: Saving Our Self,” the brunch is an outlet for women to “learn, grow and connect” with themselves and others, according to Melinda G. Todd, program coordinator, JSU
Interdisciplinary Alcohol and Drug Studies Center, Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology.
A goal is to help save women from preventable health issues facing the community today such as HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and mental health issues, Todd said.
Keynote speaker is Freda Bush, M.D. The event will have music and entertainment along with a fashion fiesta and silent auction, Todd said.
Registration fee is $10 for young women 12-17 and college students with an ID and $20 for adults. RSVP required.
The event is sponsored by the JSU Interdisciplinary Alcohol and Drug Studies Center, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice in the College of Liberal Arts.
