4 JSU gridiron stars sign free-agent contracts

JSU NFL Picks_SLIDERFour Jackson State University Tigers have signed undrafted free-agent contracts with professional football teams: Javancy JonesDan Williams, Cornelius Henderson and Zavian Bingham.

Javancy Jones, who concluded his career as one of the most decorated football players in JSU history has signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. The Macon, Miss., native was a seven-time All-American while at JSU. He led JSU with 82 tackles (fourth in the SWAC) and had 19.5 tackles for loss (second in the SWAC) to go along with four sacks during the 2016 season. Jones was named to the 92nd annual East-West Shrine Game.

Prolific wide receiver Dan Williams has signed on with the Oakland Raiders. As a Tiger, Williams hauled in 183 passes for 2,491 yards and 19 career touchdowns during his collegiate career. As a sophomore, he became the youngest Tiger to record 1,000 receiving yards.

Defensive tackle Cornelius Henderson has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He finished his senior season with 34 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and a fumble recovery.

Defensive back Zavian Bingham has inked a free-agent deal with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Bingham made an impact on the program during his two years at JSU. He played in 22 games and recorded three interceptions for 141 yards, with one returned for 99 yards for a touchdown (a JSU record), in addition to 12 pass breakups. He also posted 83 career tackles and 23 kick returns for 395 yards.
