Calhoun named president-elect of the Association of Black Sociologists

Dr. Thomas C. Calhoun

Dr. Thomas Calhoun, interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts, has been named president-elect of the Association of Black Sociologists. The announcement came this week during the organization’s 42nd annual conference in Denver, Colo.

Calhoun’s primary research and teaching specialties include deviance, qualitative research methods, and race and ethnic relations.

The ABS’s mission is to build a tradition of scholarship and service, informed by the interests of historically disenfranchised groups in general and Black/African-American people in particular.
