Jackson State University’s College of Business has earned reaccreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for an additional five years. Globally, only five percent of all business schools are accredited by AACSB International.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alisa Mosley said, “This announcement confirms what we’ve always known; JSU’s business school offers a superior experience for our students.”
She emphasized, “This reaffirmation of the leading accreditor for business schools places us in a distinctive position among our peers. The designation affirms that we offer competitive academic programs at JSU. ”
Dr. Fidelis Ikem, dean for the College of Business, expressed how proud he was JSU’s faculty, staff and students. “Our reaccreditation reaffirms that we offer a high-quality program for our students here at JSU,” he said.
AACSB accreditation differentiates business and accounting programs from those at other institutions in terms of quality, rigor, and relevance.
“During the visit, our evaluators raved about our alumni as one of the feathers in our cap,” Mosley said. “Our business faculty and administrators are to be commended for the wonderful job they are doing. I am proud to be a professor of management in the business school.”
COB delivers its academic programs through two departments–accounting, finance and entrepreneurship and business administration. It offers students the Bachelor of Business Administration with seven concentrations, two master’s programs–and a Ph.D. in several areas.
Non-business majors can also minor in business administration, finance, and marketing.
“Students want to know their degrees are from accredited programs,” Mosley said. “I think this distinction is very helpful for potential students and employers. Our students are top-notch and poised to be leaders in all of the business professions.”
“Some employers only recruit students from AACSB accredited institutions, so this provides a greater opportunity for our students to earn jobs,” Ikem said. “Our employers flock here because they know we provide the right mix of curricular and co-curricular experiences for our students.”
