We are proud that their efforts are being highlighted because our educators play a pivotal role in preparing our students to excel as professionals in their respective fields.”

The 2024 Colleges with the Best Professors ranking is based on comprehensive key statistics and student reviews, utilizing data from the U.S. Department of Education. Factors considered in this ranking include professor salary index, student-faculty ratio and faculty diversity index, among others.

Caleab Pickens, JSU’s 79th Student Government Association President and a major in the College of Health Sciences, expressed his pride, saying, “Our professors are truly deserving of being ranked among the highest in Mississippi. They excel in personalized learning, focusing on both academic and personal growth for each student. Their dedication to creating a supportive educational environment at Jackson State University is top tier,” he said.

In addition to this achievement, JSU has also been ranked No. 6 in Niche’s Best HBCU Schools in America ranking. According to Niche, the top-ranked HBCU schools for 2024 are distinguished not only by their academic rigor but also by their exceptional student experiences. This year’s rankings have introduced an Economic Mobility Index, which measures the economic status change for low-income students. ACT/SAT scores have been removed from rankings to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process

JSU’s recognition in this ranking underscores the University’s role as a leader in higher education within the state, contributing to its growing reputation for excellence in teaching and mentorship. This acknowledgment further affirms JSU’s significant role in providing an enriching and transformative educational environment for all students.
