According to Dr. Ayanna E. Gill, coordinator of the Blackburn Lab School Initiative, tutors will be teaching students at Blackburn science, math and English language arts as part of the initiative.

Tutoring will also be offered by JSU to the students at Wingfield High School, Whitten Middle School and Wilkens Elementary School, she said. The courses will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday.

The JSU College of Education and Human Development is “pooling talent to provide tutorial services prior to standardized testing in March,” Gill said.

Dr. Lennie M. Little, director of the Center for Teacher Quality, she said, is recruiting JSU education majors to provide the services.

In the high schools, courses will include history, algebra, English and biology; middle schools will include algebra, science, reading, math and language arts. Elementary school subjects will also be taught.
