Jackson State University standout Javancy Jones has received another preseason honor. He has been named to the 2016 Preseason STATS FCS All-America Team. The announcement was made Monday morning.

Jones, a senior linebacker/defensive end, received a third team nod. He finished the 2015 campaign with 107 tackles, 7.5 sacks and led the nation with 25.5 tackles for loss. In the final game of the season, he posted 26 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles.

Jones was one of four players from the Southwestern Athletic Conference to receive the honor. The list of other SWAC players includes Kortney Berry (Alabama State), Martez Carter (Grambling) and Willie Quinn (Southern).

Jackson State kicks off training camp at 5 am on August 2. The Tigers open the 2016 season on Sept. 1 when JSU travels to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on UNLV.
