The Miss Black Mississippi USA Scholarship Pageant is seeking applicants between the ages of 18-27 to be the 2015-2016 Mississippi representative. Jackson State University co-eds are invited to participate in this scholarship competition.

The winner will represent Mississippi in the Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant held in Washington, D.C.
According to pageant officials, among other considerations, applicants:
- Must be single; no children and not married; nor ever been married (divorced, annulled etc)
- Must be a natural born female
- Must be a United States citizen and a resident of Mississippi or attending a college or university in Mississippi
- Must be in excellent physical health, good moral character and committed to service
And, the applicant may not have competed more than twice in the national Miss Black USA Pageant.
Community service is considered a key component, and the organization is “committed to addressing health and education, which are the two leading social issues in the African-American community,” officials said. The winner of the state pageant will use her civic platform to promote awareness of these issues during her reign
