Mississippi conducted a statewide tornado drill at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
By proclamation from Gov. Phil Bryant, the National Weather Service and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency are observing Tornado Preparedness Week during the week of October 27 to November 1, 2013 for the state of Mississippi.
The purpose is to call attention to the secondary peak severe weather season that begins in the late fall. Historically, November has been a very active month for severe weather and tornadoes.
